South Arm Shack

We are slowly renovating an existing 1950s beachside shack on the edge of the Derwent River, 45 minutes south-east of Hobart. This is our own family home and studio.

Our goal is to maintain the house’s super-relaxed holiday character whilst drawing on our love for mid-century modern architecture, Japanese architecture and Shaker detailing. The project’s first stage involved removing the original asbestos-clad walls and replacing the doors and windows.

We have now moved on to working on the interior and developing landscape plans. It is really important to us that the house feels really connected the garden and the broader coastal environment.
