Since 2003, IN-TERIA has been dedicated to reimagining, renewing, and adapting spaces to fuse a site’s true potential with our clients’ aspirations.

Led by interior designer Karryn Dargie and registered architect Dean Baird, our unique dual-discipline approach means we design from the inside out.

As our name suggests, our focus is on the interior—the place where daily life and business unfold.

By seamlessly blending architectural rigour with interior warmth, we craft bespoke environments that fundamentally enrich the day-to-day experience of those who occupy them.

As Managing Director and Lead Interior Designer, Karryn brings over 30 years of experience shaping environments across Sydney and Tasmania. Her approach seamlessly fuses her extensive education and experience across both architecture and interior design, resulting in spaces that are highly functional and deeply considered.

She has delivered a formidable, diverse portfolio of work, ranging from bespoke residential homes and multi-residential developments to corporate office fit-outs, tourism ventures, and retail spaces. Obsessed with materiality, bespoke craftsmanship, and rigorous project management systems, Karryn ensures every design is executed with precision.

Her profound impact on the industry was recently honoured by NAWIC Tasmania, where she won the ‘Contribution to Design’ Award (2025) and was named a finalist for the National Presidents’ Choice Award. Outside the studio, she remains a passionate advocate for Tasmanian design, things made by hand, and the quiet joys of food and family.

As Architecture Lead, Dean bridges the gap between ambitious design concepts and flawless built realities. With a broad portfolio spanning exclusive heritage accommodation, tertiary institutions, high-profile tourism ventures, and single residential homes, he is a master at navigating complex structural requirements and managing crucial relationships during construction.

Having studied furniture design prior to architecture, and raised by a draftsman father, Dean possesses a rare, microscopic attention to detail. He is a stickler for meticulous documentation, ensuring that every joinery detail and structural junction is perfectly resolved long before tools ever hit the site.

When he steps away from the drawing board, Dean’s keen eye for composition translates into landscape photography, often found exploring the rugged Tasmanian bush with a notoriously bulky camera bag in tow.
