Pulp Friction | Hospitality & Retail Design
We genuinely enjoy collaborating with our corporate clients to develop distinctive Tasmanian-specific retail and hospitality design proposals. This project included a new shopfront and a timber dining deck for a juice bar in a Hobart shopping arcade. The solution features a new bi-fold window that opens the shop to the arcade. It also incorporates a living green privacy screen that separates diners from passing foot traffic. ‘Outdoor’ dining seating is available on the timber deck. Additionally, the dining deck helps slow pedestrian traffic in the arcade. Its position near the arcade entrance prevents the space from feeling purely like a thoroughfare and subtly breaks the commuter ‘rush’, encouraging passersby to slow down and explore the shops. This project was part of a broader plan to rebrand the shopping arcade. The materials chosen, including Tasmanian oak, ceramic tiles, and painted steel, add warmth and vibrancy to the public space through colour and pattern.
